CINCINNATI — Cincinnati police said Wednesday they are looking into video that shows officers slamming a dog into a police car during an arrest on a dog-crushing warrant.

The Cincinnati Police Department said in a statement that it received a video of officers pushing a dog in the back of a squad car and tossing it on the ground.

The video shows two officers pulling up to the squad car in front of a house and then throwing a dog onto the sidewalk, the statement said.

The dog was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

The dog, who was not identified in the statement, is now in the care of animal control, police said.
